You will find in this category each week, a review on an "UFO" track that is breaking the news. All styles are on the “menu” of this category: minimal, house, electro, techno or even trance in some cases.
The topic will be supplemented by other albums following the latest electronic music news.
Skrillex is the man of the moment. With an undoubted current success on Beatport with 8 tracks in the top 10, he continues to break records with a genre that goes up: the dubstep. Thus, Beatport published a few days ago the following lines: "Beatport Hot off the press, it's true: just in time for this weekend's costume contests, Skrillex's 'Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites' EP holds a record 8 out of 10 chart positions on our overall Top 10, including #1 - the first time dubstep tracks have made it into the Top 10, and the first time a DJ or producer's entire release has completely stormed the chart”. Skrillex is the purpose of all superlatives.
1. Skrillex - Rock N’ Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain)
2. Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
3. Skrillex - Kill everybody
4. Skrillex - All I Ask of You (Feat. Penny)
5. Skrillex - Scatta (Feat. Foreign Beggars and Bare Noize)
6. Skrillex - With You, Friends (Long Drive)
7. Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Noisia Remix)
8. Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Zedd Remix)
9. Skrillex - Kill everybody (Bare Noize Remix)
Thanks to his debut EP "My Name Is Skrillex" Skrillex toured the world with unbelievable speed. To amplify the buzz, he offers from his website this EP for free on Mediafire. Soony Moore (his real name), first rose to prominence with the band From First to Last until 2007, then he decided to perform solo with his own style blending dubstep and electro vibes.
The EP that has just been released a few days ago (sorry for the delay) is simply the buzz of the moment. Skrillex became a phenomenon to follow. For sure it is due to his talent, but his success was boosted too thanks to Deadmau5. Deadmau5, who has been recently awarded as the Best DJ in the world of 2010 by the DJ Mag chart, has signed the artist on his own label Mau5trap. Moreover, Skrillex announced that 50 songs are already in the pipeline and are ready to be unveiled!
The EP that could almost be considered as a mini-album features dubstep tracks with incredible potential. Even if I admit it's a style that I’ve just discovered, all the critics are very complimentary. There are particularly the excellent remixes of Noisia and Zedd that gave a more electro rhythm to the original production. Then there are the fantastic tracks "Kill Everybody" and "Rock N Roll" with endless musical distortions that will hypnotize your brain.
We could not miss the buzz that awoke the community of electronic music a few days ago. This dubstep facelift lead by Deadmau5 and his excellent track « Raise your weapon » will be imitated by others for sure. So, watch carefully this style that will become more powerful in the upcoming weeks.
