Crookers - Dr Gonzo
Let's talk about the Crookers’ album, "Dr. Gonzo" that has been released under Southern Fried some weeks ago. Phra and Bot (Crookers) describe it with the Italian word "accrocchio," that in English can be translated as a "kludge". A kludge is a quick-and-dirty solution, a clumsy, yet effective, way to solve a problem, using parts that are cobbled together. This new album is a combination of completely unrelated and random ideas that came together to produce a different kind of dance music. Just as one might expect, the barrier to a new sound has been broken on Planet Crookers.

Scarlett Etienne is one of the hottest properties on the music scene right now – name-checked by the likes of Sasha (who named her “Breakthrough DJ of 2008” in the Top 100 issue of DJMag), signed up to represent Pioneer Pro DJ, and dressed by fashion heavyweight Matthew Williamson, she’s equally at home in the dance press as she is in Vogue. "We're painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies.....from Paradise." - David Bowie.... Hi, she is Scarlett, she is Rock Star. The Field - Looping state of mind
It’s with the arrival of Looping State Of Mind on October 24th (via Kompakt) that you finally realize that, for The Field’s ambient techno explorer Axel Willner, the loop never stops. While fans and critics alike point to 2007’s phenomenal debut From Here We Go Sublime – included in Pitchfork’s Top 100 albums of the 2000s – and 2009’s equally stirring follow up Yesterday & Today as standalone points of the Swede’s music; it becomes clear that they appear as mere snapshots of what, for the producer, is a continual cycle of revolutions.

Rainbow Arabia - Boys and diamonds EP
Rainbow Arabia have been one Kompakt’s most endearing acts to work with us in years. The husband and wife duo Danny and Tiffany Preston started our year out with the genre-defying full length album “Boys And Diamonds”, released in February, which went on to become one our most acclaimed releases of recent time – the Los Angeles Times went so far as to proclaim “Rainbow Arabia are L.A.’s new electro heroes” in a recent feature.
