Today, Actualites Electroniques presents the work of an artist who has contacted us via the website. In the following article you will learn more about Gpoint, a young man of 20 y.o., which offers us his track "Y", a kind of electro music track, with melodies that resemble to the game Tetris. This electronic music, with a first meaning, is really well done. Actualites Electroniques is proud to review this new producer of the electronic music world.
Gpoint is primarily an artist who contacted us and shared info about him and his music. If you also want to be reviewed, please send us an email at the following address: djaroy@actualites-electroniques.com
Gpoint is the pseudo of Max, 20, a young man from the west of France, who grew up in Poitiers, in a festivo rockbandistic atmosphere. Then, he separated from his friends to follow geek studies in Tours. The foot just put in this new city, he founded Gpoint an unnamed concoction whose ingredients would probably be influenced by ska/festive music and an unbounded adulation for Kitsuné and Ed Banger Recordings. His sounds are influenced also by arcade games of the 80’s...
It is certainly difficult to deal with all these contradictions, but in 2009, Gpoint released "First Woody", an EP of about twenty minutes that he distributed on the website Jamendo for free.
In 2010, his studies (and a girl!) take him to La Rochelle for a few months. Again, he rebounded and released "Brain Candy", a second EP of four tracks... There were new working methods, new equipment, new managers that make his sounds more consistent and cleaner...
His second EP "Brain Candy" has been quickly broadcasted on regional radio stations and few articles has been written on the net. "Y" is extracted from this EP and it is the one we reviewed here. The track sounds like a gameboy game. It has been working in Ableton Live with an Akai station (PK 49) and many VST... There are good and fresh beats, with eclectic sounds provided with numerous and relevant rhythms, which could have been worked a little bit more to my taste, especially the compression. Nevertheless, the track runs as a loop on my turntables. So do not hesitate to share this track with your friends, because this is a great tune.
The role of Actualites Electroniques is of course to speak about the artists at the top of the poster, but we must not forget the thousands of others who work hard every day. This is the case of the young Gpoint that we wanted to highlight in this article. In 2011, Gpoint will leave for San Francisco notably to work on his new album. On the road again, we'll see... what will happen…
