The Like "Release Me" remixed by Viking is one of the greatest tracks you may hear this summer. The Like is one of the most exciting alternative rock bands in Los Angeles actually. This group has indeed released a second studio album "Release Me" on June 15 under Downtown Records, and it attracted considerable attention in the U.S.. In an atmosphere quite Brit-Pop, the remix done by the American Viking sends the original production into another dimension much more house and dance.
Third track of their eponymous album, the original production is yéyé and rock. This group, consists of Elizabeth "Z" Berg (guitar and vocals), Tennessee Thomas (drums), Annie Monroe (organ) and Laens Geronimo (bass), worked in collaboration with the in vogue producer Mark Ronson. He is for instance behind many other albums like the one of Geri Halliwell (TBA -2010), Nas (Untitled - 2008), Estelle (Shine - 2008) or Amy Winehouse (Back To Black - 2008). The album that is quite girly and not really to our taste, should nevertheless delight listeners fascinated by the hippie era! In late 2009, the group had also performed for the first part of the Arctic Monkeys tour.
Fortunately Viking came, and gives a good boost to this track, too slow in its original version. In a style strongly house, just the way as The Twelves or Jupiter can do, it is amplified by the mesmerizing electro samples. The strength of the vocal turn is retained and combined with the charming rhythmic associated. "Release me" is easy to remember and you will for sure sing it while swaying to the catchy tune.
That’s a good discovery as a track. It is another house production house in an easy style but still effective. A good way to relax during your holidays...
