I must admit that the French award of the Victoires de la Musique 2010, which took place last week, gave us a nice surprise with the presence of the french band Pony Pony Run Run. Plus their presence, they have been awarded with the prize of the Group's public revelation of 2010, notably because of their first album "You need Pony Pony Run Run" released in June 2009. Replaying their album I re-discovered the excellent track "Out of Control" which cleverly blends pop, new wave and electro music.

The French band native from Angers and Nantes, formed in 2003, first became identified with their single "Hey You" which served as a jingle for the French channel Canal+ for the introduction of the Grand Journal TV show. Their music is influenced by English music of the 80s. It mixes wonderfully pop melodies through electro and even dance rhythms!

The track "Out of Control" is the one which opens this debut album. Terribly effective from the beginning with a very good kick and a devastating bass, the English voice propels us immediately into a world of new wave, quiet similar to Air. Then, we even have a melody that comes directly from the software Rave Ejay 4. Indeed, I recognized the sample played, because I used it with this software for one of my former productions, 10 years ago. The track is dynamic and dancing, with a warm side that delighted us. This break and this sample is a musical rupture from the rest of the music that evolved in a world totally different. Globally there is a eurodance break rather original and electro pop track, overall interesting.

In the same vein as this one, I urge you to go and listen to "First Date Mullet" and "What I Feel" which are too some incredible tracks. Will the seed of talent succeed to ripen? What about a second album for PPRR in 2010? Let’s wait and see…
