This review is about the soundtrack taken from the new film of the German director Hannes Stöhr, in which the DJ-producer Paul Kalkbrenner from Berlin takes the lead. It is the fictional story of a DJ who by drugs and his incessant self-absorption, sees his life falling down. This album reflects the style of our friend from Berlin, with a fuc*ing real techno, simple and effective, with massive tracks such as "Altes Kamuffel", "Torted" or "Bengang” that invade us with their power!
But beware. Indeed, if Paul Kalkbrenner can be nervous, it can be sweet and very smart too! Especially with "Azure", a calm and melancholy track, which will transport you for a few minutes to a blue sky lighten by a beautiful sunshine. The song "Aaron" and "Sky & Sand" with a few notes of guitar and layers of synth drinks are too quiet impactful. And the track "Train" serves as a nice nod to the city of Berlin as the main theme of this song uses the sample of a S-Bahn ring (main subway in Berlin).
We also note the presence of Sascha Funke, Paul Kalkbrenner friend’s, for his famous track "Mango", also available on Bpitch Control.
