We must highlight the good classics that are always upfront. Nathan Fake is one of them with his "Dynamo EP" released in 2005 and in particular with his track "Undoing the laces" playlisted by many DJs. One of the leaders of the Border Community label gives us yet another quality EP with 3 productions. Throughout this EP that mix techno and minimal, we found a touch of a Laurent Garnier when he began his career.
"Dinamo" is both entertaining and dancing. A jerky beat, with small sounds of cymbals is on the menu. The track in its construction is very simple and relaxed. Once again it showed Nathan Fake's propensity to marry and arrange different sounds almost perfectly. This minimalistic track takes us gradually into a dark universe with some sun lights. The melody is sublime and shows us that finally the simplest tracks are often the most effective.
"Undo the Laces" goes in a completely different direction. It looks almost as the soundtrack of a hypnotic video game. There are huge synth and drums with some relaxing parts that give birth to a universe far more techno. For us it is the emblematic production of this LP, which reminds us by certain parts the techno played by Laurent Garnier at his beginning. Techno Parade 1998 in Paris for instance! If you had been there, then you will understand what I am talking...
Lastly, "Coheed" uses a voice unlike the two previous tracks. We wonder if Nathan Fake did not himself take the microphone! Once again we find ourselves in a world completely different from what we heard before. The track pretty simple plunges us into a delicious obscurantism techno world.
Finally the LP is rather confusing but very effective, based on simple melodies and dance rhythms. Again Nathan Fake feed us with a quality LP. What does he eat for breakfast? I want too! And you?
