Duoteque - Gotcha EP

Duoteque and his "Gotcha EP” is a bit of a surprise because it was over 2 years since the Italian duo composed by Andrea Ferlin and Dusty Kid aka Paolo Alberto Lodde had produced nothing on their own. This EP which has just been released under Boxer Recordings is now available since few days on Beatport. It consists of two tracks: "Gotcha" original version, and "Logo" remixed by Pig and Dan for as a dub version. "Logo" is actually a track that Duoteque already released in 2007 and then they returned to the front of the stage with a remixed version of the English duo.

Duoteque is as we’ve said a duo, composed by Andrea Ferlin, a well known Sardinian DJ of the techno scene and Dusty Kid aka Paolo Alberto Lodde. They soon became known for their first EP "One" in 2005. Then they got some success with "You Know All About Drags EP”. Their tracks have been notably played by Magda, Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz, Domenic Eulberg, Sven Vath and many more. Finally, they also produced some tracks on a label we like: Freak 'n' Chic under the Bibi's ghosts pseudo.

"Gotcha" is a “real” techno track with a sample of a voice repeating the word "Gotcha." It comes with a signal train sample in the distance, we can hear from time to time. The track is really not for everyone's hands because it offers a dull and underground atmosphere. It is without doubt one of the most techno tracks, in its best sense, that we have reviewed so far here.

As for the remix of "Logo" made by our two British fellows Pig and Dan (real name Igor "Pig" Tchkotoua & "Dan Duncan) this is a track still underground but which also operates in an atmosphere more dancefloor and happy techno than the previous production. A part from the 2007 original version, they have added more rhythm and a more festive melody. We would definitely see this song played in a set of Josh Wink or Marc Romboy at Rex (Paris) for example at the beginning of a tech house set.

In any case, the return of Duoteque  at the beginning of the year 2010 is rather successful, and it even seems that they are currently working on an upcoming album. To be continued....
