You will find in this category each week, a review on a top vinyl which is breaking the news. All styles are on the “menu” of this category: minimal, house, electro, techno or even trance in some cases.
The topic will be supplemented by other albums following the latest electronic music news.
Some days ago, the new EP “Haute Couture EP” of Nicole Moudaber has been released on iVAV Recordings, the label manage by Steve Lawler. Indeed, iVAV welcome a lady who most definitely has the VIVa fever! Nicole Moudaber has been a regular artist on the VIVa imprints since her 2008 release “Boxer Girl” and “Indecent Exposure”. It is the first time we speak about the girl who recently follows Carl Cox for his tour “The Revolution Continues”. Carl Cox said about her: “I've been following Nicole’s career for years - she's amazing.” So pay attention to your ears, because techno tracks will follow in the review. Definitely Carl Cox’s style…
Carl Cox isn't the only fan either. Both Steve Lawler, label’s boss and Danny Tenaglia have praised before Nicole's DJ'ing skills, with Cox also inviting her to release on his newly re-launched Intec label. Indeed, she released a few day ago an underground and techno EP called “The reason why”. If you like the techno style of Carl Cox, with fat beats, don’t miss this EP, I’m sure you will love it! Moreover, her recent releases for the likes of Blu-Fin, Inmotion, Rawthentic, Area Remote (alongside Smokin' Jo) and Yellow Tail have all featured in the sets of the biggest names and her current Intec release is riding high in a number of charts.
Having spent the summer in Ibiza wowing crowds in Space, Warung at Priviledge, Underground and Es Vive (where she’s held a weekly residency), it’s easy to see how Carl Cox famously labelled her ‘the Most Underrated DJ of 2009’. She comes back in November with a massive EP that will satisfy all techno lovers.
Indeed, today's double-header is Nicole's debut for iVAV, and sees her deliver two upfront and completely fresh tech-house cuts of the highest order. “Feel That”, has a 'happy-go-lucky' kinda swing, and a smile inducing rubbery bassline. Quiet in the same atmosphere, the driving 'Haute Couture' takes things a little darker and far more twisted. It is the one I preferred, because it is a little less linear than the previous one.
Both excellent tracks are dancefloor cuts that will deliver enjoyment throughout the audience. As all iVAV releases do!
Here are some feedbacks of DJs and producers that I like particularly and that shows the potential of the tracks :
> Stephan Bodzin: "Haute Couture is massive!!"
> Anja Schneider: "I'm feelin absolutely Feel It! Great like always from Nicole. Big support for both tracks!"
> Ali Schwarz from Tiefschwarz: "Love Feel That!!!"
> Marco Carola: "Haute Couture is a nice track for me."
> Darren Emerson: "Love the groove on Feel That."
> Martin Eyerer: "Super phat release!"
> Wally Lopez: "Very good release. Support for Haute Couture."
