Discovered by chance a few days ago, MANDY vs. Booka Shade "Donut" is a real tech house music bomb. This is more surprising because in a few days a remixed LP will be released with 5 remixes of this track. It will include a version of the Brazilian producer Gui Boratto, but also a remix of James Talk. The track will be released on Living The Dream Music, a new label created for the occasion which offers to the Internet users a “Donut” mashup for free. So good!
Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger (Booka Shade), Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung (MANDY) with the help of Dj T had been known first for the launch of the German label Get Physical. Then, this quartet has gained notoriety among the public in 2005 with their track "Body Language" which has gradually secured their status as a pillar of the German electronic scene, and more generally the global electronic music. Because of their many dates around the world and their solo projects, they had only produced one other track: "O Superman", featuring Laurie Anderson.
Unable to listen the remixes yet, I suggest you hear the original track released in 2008 (above) which is terribly effective. Once you've heard it, you will understand why! The music slow at the beginning during 3 minutes then gives us certain tones that make the track musically destructive. A huge minimal and tech-house track, rather happy, will please many listeners. This track gradually creates a tension that suddenly explodes and is then replaced by a dark groove with a strong emotional resonance. Musical sensations guaranteed! “Like all the best records, it is both immediately recognisable (as the work of M.A.N.D.Y and Booka Shade), but quite unlike anything else out there.”
Scheduled to come out February 8th, we'll talk soon about the remixes by giving you an update on the LP.
