Jon Hopkins will release in early August an EP, with 2 of his own productions, remixed by Four Tet and Nathan Fake, under Double Six / Domino Records. This outstanding composer, is still relatively unknown outside his native territory, England, but has a past that leaves nothing to be desired... In fact, after having released three albums: "Opalescent" in 2001, then "Contact Note" in 2004, and "Insides" in 2009, Jon Hopkins influenced some tracks of the latest Coldplay’s album "Viva la Vida", especially the song "Light the Trough Veins". Thus, he was invited to the opening shows of Coldplay, on the world tour.
Jon Hopkins - Releases Remix EP
On this disc there are two remixes, one done by Four Tet and one by Nathan Fake, two English guys, who gives us here their best! "Vessel" and "Wire" are tracks extract from his latest album "Insides".
Jon Hopkins - Vessel (Four Tet Remix): The song starts with a dubstep atmosphere, fairly common at the beginning and then from 1.30, it takes us into a very different world... It begins with a simple gimmick, which is follows by a synthesizer, a piano and a bass line that kills everything! Finally, psychedelic bells complete this wonderful progress!
Jon Hopkins - Wire (Nathan Fake Remix): The small knight of Border Community feeds us with a piece equal to his previous works, an audacious techno, while torturing our little ears. The wonderful ambience of Jon Hopkins is highlighted by the inimitable style of Nathan Fake. You need to hear it!
Jon Hopkins offers us a beautiful and coherent EP, with two remixes by artists always effectives. Now, we just have to wait for August 9th to get these two small music bombs. The BBC says about theses productions that they are "epic, soaring and emotional... no amount of reflected glory could fully illuminate Insides's mysterious depths". BBC is truly right…
