In the recent weeks, the French DJ and producer Etienne de Crecy has released various EPs from his live "Beats'N'Cubes. After the release of "Welcome" in early February, it was the turn of "Hope" to be released on the label Pixadelic. The EP released mid-May 2010, consists of several remixes including the one of D.I.M. and Djedjotronic. In addition, Etienne has offered to the Internet users, on a dedicated website, 3 tracks recorded live in Bogota. There are the tracks "Hope" but also two classic tracks from Etienne de Crécy’s discography: "Overnet" and "Prix Choc". There is for you a link to listen this musical trio in the following article. Etienne de Crécy - Hope EP
Following the article written yesterday on Demon for his new EP "I think”, we can see that the pioneers of the French Touch movement are back with terribly effective tracks, as they’ve done previously at the end of the 90’s. When will Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe, Fred Flake be back?
After the release of his tracks recorded live during his tour "Beats'N'Cubes, the emblematic French DJ has recorded a studio version of 'Hope' with several remixes. All the tracks evolve in an electro world, with a distorted vocal that has been worked as it was a live. This voice makes me think of a loop made from the Voice of Justice "We Are Your Friends". What do you think?
From these titles, we feel boundless energy. If we were to choose a particular version we will retain the live in Bogota that transcribes the best the music power of this production. Indeed, we can recognize the spirit of the remix of "Make Me Feel" by Benny Benassi.
Concerning the other remixes, we could say that the remix of German guy M.I.A. is punchier that the original, with a darker atmosphere. The remix of Djedjotronic, the latest discovery of the manager of Ed Bangers Pedro Winter, is too repetitive. Far from the original, Jeremy Cottereau whose real name is, offer us a production difficult to access. Concerning the alternate mix, it looks as the live version @ Bogota. It uses particularly acid samples.
Etienne de Crecy released various tracks inspired by the original version created live in Colombia. The EP is made of consistent remixes. Special award to the live version. French Touch is not dead!
