You will find in this category each week, a review on a top CD album or vinyl album which is breaking the news. All styles are on the “menu” of this category: minimal, house, electro, techno or even trance in some cases.
The topic will be supplemented by other albums following the latest electronic music news.
This is the hottest news in the electronic music world. Indeed, since this week, the first 6 tracks of the original soundtrack of "Tron Legacy", produced by Daft Punk, are online. After receiving an unknown email on Actualites Electroniques, I was directed to a Sound Cloud address with 6 extracts which apparently would be the first tracks of Daft Punk’s soundtrack album. After some researches on the net, it appears that I am not the only one who has received this kind of message. By combining different sources, it seems that it is officially Daft Punk’s tracks. What is more surprising is that these tracks are now also available on the official Tron webpage. After listening these six tracks, it actually confirms the touch of Daft Punk, with the samples used, close to their previous productions.
"Tron" is a movie mixing fiction and reality. This film and particularly its soundtrack have already been reviewed on Actualites Electroniques on the following article "Daft Punk - Tron Legacy". The 6 extracts have not yet been confirmed by Daft Punk and we will wait for that. The mystery still exists about these tracks and nobody knows from where they are coming from exactly.
The most amazing thing is that these productions emerged at the same time as the second official trailer of the movie that you can watch below. There is also one other clue : this week on the Tron and Disney websites, 3 tracks are available and correspond to the ones you can listen on the Sound Cloud account mentioned under. Thus, we are almost certain that these titles are truly from Daft Punk.
Daft Punk have always been accustomed to create mystery around their releases. Don’t you remember what they have done previously with their albums, by releasing some extracts to make people talk just before the official release? As long as these tracks have not been contradicted by Daft Punk, it is likely that it is therefore their own productions.
The final soundtrack of the film will contain 24 tracks. So it still remains 18 to come. The full original soundtrack will be available on November 23, one month before the release of movie. Indeed, the U.S. the movie will be out on December 17 and then on February 2, 2011 for France.
Apparently unveiled at Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego, the first extracts actually resemble the style of Daft Punk. I'd rather not go into detail on each that you can hear yourself, but you may recognize some samples already in use in their previous tracks. For example "Tron Legacy BSO Scene 224" is based on samples coming from "Digital love" a track released under their second album "Discovery". This is the best extract by far. The rest of the songs are more conventional for a soundtrack with a quiet and bewitching ambiance. It was still difficult to truly recognize the spirit Daft Punk in theirs.
Ultimately, if these tracks are confirmed, we expected more from our French buddies. We expected fantastic track and this is not the case, because these productions are actually quite simple. Nevertheless, some let us hope of the best like "Tron Legacy BSO Scene 224" terribly effective and terribly like the original Daft Punk style. So we will wait for the 18 other tracks to have a final judgment. In any case, we will get tired of listening to "Tron Legacy BSO Scene 224".... In the bonus below, there is maybe another track of Daft Punk huge too...
