Some were waiting for it, others just hear it. Indeed, while everyone was talking about Daft Punk in the studio for a 5th opus, we now know the reason why. Indeed, Daft Punk didn’t past their time to compose for a 5th album, but to make the soundtrack of a futuristic movie called "Tron Legacy".
The news was released just few months ago, but it is now official with the release of the trailer that you can watch on the Disney Picture website and on online video platforms like Youtube. To tell you, everything is surreal. Daft Punk still strikes a blow. This title, or more exactly the passage I could find, very strongly resembles to a universe of Vitalic.
To recall, the French masters of electronic music are not at their first attempt on movie soundtrack. They had indeed already composed music for films like "Electroma" and "Interestella 555" produced by Japanese manga artist Leiji Matsumoto.
Disney signed the film, scheduled to be released in 2011, and will be certainly one of the greatest films ever made by the U.S. studio. For those who would like to see the trailer, available here, it is a crazy world, mixing fluorescent colors, motion capture, landscape in 3D effects similar to “Matrix”.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and based on a script by Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (directors of "Lost") the idea rises from the film made in the early 80s, by Disney himself, entitled "Tron". The film was regarded by many as a precursor film of a new era of modern cinema. It mixed both graphics and actual shooting. Roughly the story chronicles the life of a programmer video game enthusiast who was trapped in the virtual world he himself created!
This movie with a retro-futuristic soundtrack that outsized the Parisian for maybe one of the greatest films in the movie history...
