By looking some days ago the shelves of the Fnac shop, I finally discovered that the album of Deadmau5 : "For a lack of a better name" was released. In fact, I had already spoken of "Strobe" in a previous article, which was part of this album and that was played by Dj Tiesto at one of his sets in New York. This compilation brings together the latest production of the No. 1 artist in 2008. There are of 12 tracks, ending with « Strobe ».

Joel Zimmerman, as a real name, is the Canadian best known under the nickname Deadmau5. He offers a collection of titles that has produced individually and then he decided to compile an album. There is no real surprise because most titles had already been released as singles on their respective sides. Nevertheless, it allows us to rehear certain tracks that ultimately are still powerful. Others have been completed by voice. It also helps to discover new ones, like the famous "Strobe" and "Moar Ghosts n Stuff", the second track.

The artist considered as the best producer of 2008, by the very serious shopping sites online Juno.co.uk and Beatport.com, tries throughout the album to emerge from this picture of Dj only creating progressive pieces based on the same rhythm. Indeed, it is an image that stuck more to his skin. So we are dealing with many very punchy electro tracks. Some are even accompanied by a voice, which was rare in his previous productions. The titles are all very well worked with melodies to fall to the ground.

It starts with the famous "Moar Ghosts n Stuff" but there is also "Hy Friend" with an hip-hop voice that fits perfectly with the electro melody proposed. There are quieter tracks like "Soma", a track with a German minimal spirit. There are also powerful tracks as "MLF" or "Bot". Finally, please note there are two new versions of his hit Ghosts'N'Stuff, with the addition of the voice of Robin Swire. The album ended divinely with my favorite track "Strobe".

Became in two years, one of the pillars of the electronic music scene, Deadmau5 shows once again his talent on an album full of singles. The only criticism we could make is that unlike an album with a real artistic logic, Deadmau5 gives us a series of singles, not really coherent, but in a rare musical quality.
