David Guetta and Sandy Vee - 50 degree

"50 degree" is the latest track of David Guetta. It was released on June 7, with the launch of the compilation "Fuck me I'm famous" in its 2010 version. 10th track of the album mixed by David Guetta himself, this track has quickly generated a controversy on the net that reached its peak a few days ago. Indeed, you can read on various websites/blogs that the track is greatly inspired by the production of the Swedish House Mafia « One » that we reviewed at the end of April.

This controversy rises a little more, with the broadcast of the clip of the Swedish House Mafia featuring Pharrell “The One". In fact, at the end of it, if you freeze the frames, the arm of the man who took the hard drive, you will see that the tattoo says simply "Fuck me I'm famous", a reference that is obviously linked with the French artist.

The Swedish guys accuse very seriously the emblematic Dj of plagiarism. We will not seek to know who is right or wrong, but we can hear there are similarities in some samples used. But saying that David has "stolen" the sound of the SHM is a step too far. Electronic music has always been made of reused samples. Did Eric Prydz use samples of Thomas Bangalter and DJ Falcon for his song "Call on Me"? Yes he did!

Regarding the track, it begins with a strong synthesizer that is gradually filtered. We can feel an English influence melody with, both underground and metallic sounds. For the break the work is exactly the opposite: the filter lets out music increasingly clear, that goes in a trance atmosphere. It could have been played for instance as an intro for the White Sensation party.

Given the numerous reviews of this Guetta’s track, it would have been interesting to hear the view of David. You should also know that David is very friendly with Ingrosso Sebastian, but with this clip, we are not sure anymore ... If David will speak about it, I will keep you updated. Now it’s time to make your own opinion and preference...
