You will find in this category each week, a review on a MP3 track or vinyl track which is breaking the news. All styles are on the “menu” of this category: minimal, house, electro, techno or even trance in some cases.
The topic will be supplemented by other albums following the latest electronic music news.
Expect the unexpected they say and it should come as a surprise to many as the Kompakt family warmly welcome one of America’s most celebrated producers in dance music, John Tejada! Your hard pressed not to have heard his music. Whether on his own Palette Recordings, Poker Flat or Plug Research plus a Fabric Mix CD under his belt, it’s thanks to a steady stream of massive releases (think “Mono On Mono” and “Sweat On The Walls”) he remains a mainstay in the charts of Beatport and uncountable DJ’s. On May 2th, he will release his new “Unstable condition EP” under the German imprint.
John Tejada has over a decade of releases under his belt for the likes of Poker Flat, Fabric, Plug Research and of course his own imprint Palette Recordings. Kompakt Records welcomes Tejada with his debut single for the label that follows with the tremendous musicality that keeps him on the top 10 charts of Beatport on a regular basis.
So say hello to his Kompakt debut single “Unstable Condition” from his forthcoming full length “Parabolas” out June 20th. The results here are tremendous – the title track is a parable of epic sorts.
Indeed, resonating the melodic vastness of Aphex Twin’s classic sounds of Polygon Window, the beat is driven by House and the results are unmistakably Tejada’s own. He shows off his expert knack for musicality with the B-Side “The Living Night” which gracefully flows beginning to end.
Kompakt offered us too a digital bonus that has a fitting name. “Tropical” is pure sweetener that is fuelled by the warmest sub-bass you’ve heard all year. This is for us the best track of this trio. Pure and effective. But for the moment I can’t share it with you. Sorry guys ;)
