Ian O'Donovan is certainly one of the hottest names on the last couple of months. It is exactly what Laurent Garnier said about him some days ago: “Ian is the man of the moment”. His quality works have found home on some of the most renewed labels on the whole planet like Bedrock, Natura Sonoris and Stripped to name a few. In a few days, Ian will release his new EP “Open call EP” on Mirabilis Records. It is composed of two absolutely phenomenal tracks in his very own style “Red call” and “Wide Open”, notably played by Laurent some days ago @ Rex Club!
“Red Call” opens up this release with crispy beats, quirky percussion and Detroit strings, all backed with some warm chords, a restless bass line and atmospheric soundscapes and warm pads. The deep side of techno with lots of warmth and soul!
“Wide Open” continues where the first track has left us, but in an even more explosive way. A rock solid groove, catchy little chords loop and lots and lots of warmth make this another massive track from Ian. There is something of Pryda in this track regarding the evolving rhythm along the track. Definitely progressive atmosphere.
At the end, concerning this release the Irish producer received a lot of support from a lot of producers. Here is a selection of feedback from worldwide DJs:
> HENRY SAIZ: “Good stuff from Ian! All my support to the label!”
> NICK WARREN: “Excellent work from Ian”
> HERNAN CATTANEO: “Very good. Both tracks work for me”
