Grum - Runaway

Graeme Shepherd is a 24 year old Scottish guy, well known under the nickname of Grum. We must admit that we had never heard of this man until now and it is a rare musical discovery that we just made. By digging his history and discography, we found sensational tracks like "Heartbeats" and "Runaway". A bit like Jupiter which we reviewed earlier, Grum delivers us the contemporary side of disco vibe thanks to impressive synthesizers.

Native of Linlithgow, near Edinburgh, our man was influenced mainly by Human League, Daft Punk, but also by Ferry Corsten when he was younger. He recently hit the electronic music scene. He gradually became known through his tracks distributed for free on the net, on famous website of electronic music like Discodust.com. Aged of 24 years, the British producer plays mainly in Europe. He will be for instance in Paris on June 30, then in Ibiza and the United States. One of the craziest stories about him is that he realized his success by going to a party at the Space club in Ibiza. Indeed as he was dancing with his friends, he heard one of his track played by Aeroplane. What a surprise for the young artist! Don’t you think?

More recently, in May 2010, with the release of his album "Heartbeats", he offers us 12 wonderful tracks that you can download thanks to the link below. There are a lot of positive reviews about this album, such as the one of the BBC1 or the website Pop Justice that considers the track "Heartbeats" as one of the best tracks of 2010.

To promote his first LP, Grum has developed a unique method of communication still underdeveloped: the QR code. Thus, taking a picture of the cover attached on the top of the article, you will automatically launch this EP on your mobile. Feel free to experiment!

Regarding "Runaway", it is a fresh and dynamic track. It sends us into another world. It pulses well, using a good beat and a sampled voice that really fits with the rhythm. You can notice some links with Kris Menace sounds that gradually rises in intensity. It creates a track suitable for every type of dancefloors that will excite a lot of partygoers.

Grum is an artist that we will follow very closely for the upcoming months. Feel free to delight your ears with his tracks, sensual and charming, with a touch of pop and electro sounds.... Enjoy!
