The recognized DJ duo in the tech house scene of London, Filth and Splendour has just released its latest EP titled "Lazer Birds". Regular at London's biggest clubs and the best spots of international clubbing, the duo composed by Oli Cassidy and James Trystan was lately particularly productive and creative. It seems that the labels Ministry of Sound and Twisted Frequency chose well their foals, because after the great remix of "Sophie needs a Ladder" by the famous Deadmau5, this new EP is already beyond a fleeting promise, a beautiful confirmation.
"Lazer Birds" signs the rise of Filth and Splendour. The song derived in three versions, an original mix, a Konektiv edit and a Parma Elettronica Deconstruction version, simply gives chills. As suggested by their previous single "Drop beats and not bombs" the talent of Filth and Splendour surely lies in managing the intensity and the colors. "Lazer Birds" distills a surge perfectly mastered and a melodic and neurotic rhythmic. A cavernous and dancing atmosphere goes through the three pieces of this EP. With the original mix, favorite Soho DJs’ offer a subtle and pest beat. The bass line is relentless, powerful and progressive. To the chest and ears "Lazer Birds" (Original mix) hits like a generic of David Fincher.
The Konektiv edit is warmer, less oppressive. Choirs and more voluptuous shades are the main reason. A respite soon forgotten with "Parma Elletronica Deconstruction". It is a return to an urban and mechanical atmosphere, with some changes less original but equally effective.
It is a brief EP but intense. And if it is not yet the glory, "Lazer Birds" is a sign of an acquired maturity for Filth and Splendour.
